When mice enter your home, you and your loved ones are put at risk. These unsanitary intruders cause widespread contamination and serious property damage that can be absolutely devastating for Arlington homeowners. Consider the following dangers that come along with an infestation of mice:

- Biting and transmitting diseases.
- Chewing through and contaminating insulation.
- Electrical damage leads to the risk of a house fire.

Are Mice More Destructive Inside Or Outside My Arlington Home?
An infestation of mice can have severe effects on your Arlington home, both inside and outside the house. If you’re curious whether mice can do more damage inside or outside, consider some of the following consequences that result from mouse activity:
- Bring other pests into your home
- Chewed and contaminated insulation

- Gnaw through electrical wiring
- Leave trail droppings of excrement
- Rapid breeding and spreading of the infestation
- Scampering inside of wall voids

Many of these negative results have to do with the inside of your home, but whether your infestation is indoor or outdoor, the risks are similar. No matter where mice start off, it’s impossible to know where they’ll end up, and that’s why thorough interior and exterior protection is the best way to go. Why Is It So Hard To Get These Mice Out Of My Arlington Home?
When mice get into your home, they spread quickly and can be very hard to control. Why? Well, they’re very sneaky pests and very small in size, meaning they can squeeze through the tiniest openings around your house. These entry points may be located in remote areas that can be hard to get to, especially when you don’t have help from a pest professional.
Mice fit into small cracks and crevices, doing whatever they can to get inside your home. Once they get inside, they contaminate the premises and cause serious property damage, posing several threats to your health and safety. Something else to keep in mind is that mice mate prolifically. A few mice can lead to a widespread infestation in a short amount of time.
The only guaranteed way to protect your Arlington home from mouse infestation is to get in touch with your local pest professionals. Contact Miche Pest Control to discuss your mouse control and prevention needs, and we’ll get the process started right away.

How Do I Keep Mice From Returning?
Seal Entry Points
One way to ensure that mice do not re-renter your home is to seal up any potential entry points. This includes any cracks, gaps, or holes behind appliances, along the bottom edges of your walls, and along the exterior of your home. Mice are great at gnawing and chewing, so you’ll want to opt for wire mesh or stainless-steel fibers for sealing any entry points.
Place Bait Stations Around the Outside of Your Home
Bait stations, which contain a poison meant to kill rodents, can be placed around the exterior perimeter of your home to exterminate mice before they have the chance to make their way inside. Rodents can be expected to die within 1 to 2 weeks of consuming said bait. We use rodenticides that are registered with the EPA, and labeled for use in and around homes, pet kennels, and other locations.
Keep Kitchen Areas Clear of Food & Crumbs
One of the best ways to prevent mice from getting established your home is by eliminating any food sources that may attract their attention. This means promptly cleaning up any spills and keeping your countertops and floors free from crumbs and food residue. If you have any pets, such as dogs or cats, be sure to keep their food sealed and stored somewhere off the floor if possible.
Eliminate Clutter
Mice are most attracted to and thrive in cluttered, messy areas, so you should keep as clean & tidy of a home as possible in order to reduce the chance of them nesting in your home. You can do this by not leaving food out overnight, keeping your garbage cans covered at all times, and keeping storage boxes and containers elevated off of the floor.
Tidy Up Your Yard
Mice love to build their nests in places where they can hide, such as in piles of wood, weeds, tall grass, or piles of leaves. You should make sure to regularly cut your lawn and remove any weeds from your yard or garden to prevent mice from making a home there. It is also best to avoid keeping piles of leaves in your yard and to avoid keeping piles of wood directly on the ground.
A Preventative Rodent Control Program
The quickest and most efficient way to remove mice from your yard, of course, is to call a professional pest control company. At Miche Pest Control, we recommend continuous rodent control services even after mice have been eradicated from your home to ensure that they do not return. Continuous, preventative rodent control is going to be the best way to make sure that mice and rats do not make their way back to your yard or into your home.

Arlington VA
Arlington County is a county in the Commonwealth of Virginia, often referred to simply as Arlington, Virginia. The county is situated in Northern Virginia on the southwestern bank of the Potomac River directly across from the District of Columbia, of which it was once a part, under the name Alexandria County. The county is coterminous with the U.S. Census Bureau's census-designated place of Arlington. Arlington is considered to be the second-largest "principal city" of the Washington metropolitan area. If it were incorporated as a city, Arlington would be the fourth most-populous city in the state.
With a land area of 26 square miles, Arlington is the geographically smallest self-governing county in the US, and by reason of state law regarding population density, it has no incorporated towns within its borders. Arlington is home to the Pentagon, Reagan National Airport, and Arlington National Cemetery. In academia, the county contains Marymount University, George Mason University's Antonin Scalia Law School, the administrative offices buildings and graduate programs for the Schar School of Policy and Government and the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution, as well as satellite campuses of the University of Virginia and Virginia Tech.
The area that now constitutes Arlington County was originally part of Fairfax County in the Colony of Virginia. Land grants from the British monarch were awarded to prominent Englishmen in exchange for political favors and efforts at development. One of the grantees was Thomas Fairfax, 6th Lord Fairfax of Cameron, who lends his name to both Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax. The county's name "Arlington" comes via Henry Bennet, Earl of Arlington, a Plantation along the Potomac River, and Arlington House, the family residence on that property. George Washington Parke Custis, the grandson of First Lady Martha Washington, acquired this land in 1802. The estate was eventually passed down to Mary Anna Custis Lee, wife of General Robert E. Lee. The property later became Arlington National Cemetery during the American Civil War, and eventually lent its name to present-day Arlington County.
