The Importance Of Professional Rodent Control In Toquerville

Rodents may appear fuzzy and endearing, much like the pets that your kids have, but don’t be fooled. Rodents are responsible for a host of issues that can prove damaging to both your property and to your health. Here are a few ways that make rodents dangerous when you live in Toquerville:

  • Diseases. Whether rodents bite humans or simply leave behind their feces or urine, they are spreaders of bacteria and diseases like salmonella and hantavirus.

  • Secrecy. Rodents are nocturnal creatures that tend to do most of their gnawing work at night and in areas that are either hard for humans to reach or that humans rarely visit.

  • Rate of rapid reproduction. Rodents can reproduce over a dozen times each year, which can turn a small problem into an enormous one in just a matter of weeks.

Rodents are pests that shouldn’t be handled on your own. For rodent control that you can count on, contact the professionals at Miche Pest Control today and live pest-free!

Do Cockroaches In Toquerville Bite?

Cockroaches are a sturdy pest that have proven difficult for the average homeowner to eradicate, due to how long they can live without sustenance, as well as their resistance to many household pesticides. More than just an unsightly nuisance, cockroaches are also responsible for spreading pathogens like E. coli and salmonella. And while cockroaches have a reputation for being just a creepy crawly pest, did you know that they actually bite?

Though cockroach bites are not a common occurrence unless food sources become scarce and you have a large cockroach population in your Toquerville property, they have been known to bite humans. When cockroaches bite, their saliva and their exterior are what spread the diseases and viruses that they carry.

Don’t leave cockroach infestations to chance; contact the professionals at Miche Pest Control today and get rid of cockroaches for good!

How To Get Rid Of Argentine Ants On Your Toquerville Property

It’s not uncommon to spot Argentine ants around your Toquerville property; you can identify them primarily by their dark amber coloring and arched antennae. They are regarded as very territorial and are known to bite humans when they feel provoked. While their bites are not considered harmful to people, you’ll still want them off of your property. Argentine ants are attracted to sugar and protein, which means that maintaining a spotless home is important, though it can be unrealistic for the average person.

We perform detailed home inspections in order to understand why these ants are lured to your home as well as the changes that we need to make in order to keep them from returning. The products that we apply and the changes we make will be based on our findings but will always be safe for everyone in your household. For pests like Argentine ants, we typically suggest routine maintenance so that we can keep them from being an issue without interruption.

Should Toquerville Homeowners Be Worried About Scorpions?

Scorpions are prevalent in the Toquerville area and homeowners should definitely be aware of their presence. While most of the species that locals will encounter do not pose a serious health risk, they can become a nuisance very easily. And though there is only one scorpion in the area that’s considered highly dangerous to people, that’s not a risk that homeowners should take. The Arizona bark scorpion is a yellowish-brown color, and has a long upturned tail and a set of large front pincers. They are the most venomous species of scorpion in the country, so their stings should be taken very seriously. Some of the symptoms of stings include nausea, fever, vomiting, uncontrollable shaking, and in the most severe cases, death.

At Miche Pest Control, we help homeowners take scorpions seriously. We have extensive experience with area pests and we know what it takes to keep scorpions from becoming an issue. Our approach not only involves the application of safe products but also environmental controls and subtle changes that will keep scorpions and their prey from returning. We’ll return on a routine schedule in order to maintain our customers’ safety. For more information on our scorpion control offerings, contact us today.

How To Prevent Spider Infestations In Toquerville Homes

Toquerville homes are left exposed to spider problems throughout the year because of their structural flaws, the presence of other pests, and ideal conditions. In order for homeowners to prevent these issues, they should follow these tips:

  • Store wood piles at least 20 feet away from the home and clear brush in the yard.

  • Eliminate cobwebs both inside and outside of the home.

  • Check for leaky areas routinely and fix any issues. Pay special attention to gutters, sinks, and plumbing fixtures.

  • Make sure that all window screens are in good working order.

  • Affix weatherstripping around loose windows and doors.

  • Create a clean interior of the home by removing clutter, disinfecting surfaces, taking out the trash regularly, and sweeping up crumbs.

  • Keep the basement, attic, and crawl spaces free from moisture and use a dehumidifier where needed.

  • Store all food items in airtight containers and clean them out between uses.

  • Don’t let dirty dishes pile up in the sink.

  • Seek professional assistance for year-round spider prevention.

Keeping spiders from becoming an issue can prove difficult because of how little it takes to attract them. For more information on maintaining a spider-free environment, contact Miche Pest Control today.

How Dangerous Is It To Have Rats On My Toquerville Property?

Rats are sneaky rodents that can gain access to your Toquerville property in ways that you wouldn’t even suspect. These pests are very skilled climbers and will commonly use trees and plants that are in contact with your buildings in order to enter it. Additionally, they can slip through very small openings and some species even navigate through sewer systems in order to find a habitat.

Once rats have entered your property, they prove to be very dangerous. To start, they are usually the culprit behind the spread of health risks like leptospirosis, hantavirus, and tularemia. Rats are also not afraid of humans and are known to attack, which is how rat-bite fever spreads. They are also the source of many secondary pest infestations because rats are common hosts to fleas, ticks, and mites. If you ever notice an abundance of these pests around your property, you may have a rodent problem. Rats are also very dangerous because of the property damage that they cause. Like other rodents, rats chew incessantly in order to keep their front teeth from overgrowing. They can also be very tough to eliminate as well because of their ability to produce 60 pups a year and the fact that they’re nocturnal.
