How Do Pests Get Into Springfield Homes?

Household pest infestation is a huge headache that no homeowner wants to deal with. It’s normal to wonder how these intruders even made their way into your house in the first place. Unfortunately, pests can be very sneaky about gaining access into Springfield homes. There are a variety of ways in which they enter the home, some of which include:

  • Areas where heating, plumbing, ventilation, and cables pass through the walls.
  • Areas where wires and pipes enter the house from the outside.
  • Cracks along the exterior foundation.
  • Crawl space openings, as well as soffits, fascia, and roof vents.
  • Dryer vents, screens, and exhaust fans.
  • Gaps between the siding and trim, where the wall meets the foundation.
  • Holes in the roof and through chimney caps.
  • On items, you or someone else is bringing into your home.
  • Openings along walls and home perimeter.
  • Poorly sealed doors and windows.
  • Via overgrown trees or shrubbery that come into contact with the house.

The list goes on. With so many potential entry spots and access points around your house, it’s no wonder why household pest infestation is a common problem for local homeowners. Five Ways You May Be Making Your Springfield Home Attractive To Pests

Many times, homeowners are actually contributing to household pest infestation without realizing it. There are certain habits and practices around your house that may attract pest activity and expose you to infestation. Here are five ways in which you may be making your Springfield home more attractive to pests:

  1. Failure to eliminate damp, rotting wood from your property.
  2. Ignoring existing entry points like cracks and crevices in the walls and siding.
  3. Leaving the dirty dishes in the sink for too long and improperly storing your food.
  4. Ignoring spills or messes that leave sugary residue and crumbs on the countertop or floor.
  5. Failure to tend to any cracks or gaps in the foundation.

Obviously, no homeowner intends to attract pests into their home; it’s just a consequence of living in a space with sources of food, water, and shelter. The fact is, no matter what you do, pests are going to want to get into your house, and the only guaranteed way to protect your property and your loved ones is to call in the experts at Miche Pest Control. Springfield VA

Springfield is a census-designated place (CDP) in Fairfax County, Virginia. Homes and businesses in bordering CDPs including North Springfield, West Springfield, and Newington are usually given a Springfield mailing address. The CDP is a part of Northern Virginia, the most populous region of the Washington DC Metropolitan Area.

Springfield is dominated by the interchange of I-95, I-395, and the Capital Beltway (I-495), known as the Springfield Interchange. The center of the town is at the intersection of Route 644 (Old Keene Mill Road / Franconia Road) and Route 617 (Backlick Road) adjacent to the interchange. A significant commercial district exists around the interchange area, but the rest of the community is primarily residential in character.

According to the US Postal Service, Springfield collectively has four ZIP codes: 22150 (often unofficially referred to as Central Springfield, this is the zip code for the actual Springfield CDP itself), 22151 (North Springfield), 22152 (West Springfield), and 22153 (Newington).

Central Springfield is dominated by the Springfield Interchange, popularly known as the "Mixing Bowl" or the "Melting Pot", a name taken from an earlier interchange near the Pentagon. The interchange includes three Interstates (I-95, I-395, and I-495), with two exits less than a half mile apart, with two roads (Commerce Street and Route 644 (Old Keene Mill Road / Franconia Road)) going over or under I-95 within less than a half mile, and is further complicated by the presence of a separate, reversible high-occupancy vehicle lane passing through the center of two of the interstates.
