Mouse Identification Guide For Vienna, VA Residents

Though there are many similar-looking rodents scampering around Vienna, the mouse is identifiable due to some key features. Mice typically weigh no more than an ounce and measure approximately three to five inches in length. Their tail is nearly the same length as their body and is thin with short hairs. Mice tend to be grayish-brown in coloring and have overall delicate characteristics, like their ears, eyes, and hands. These pests are nocturnal in nature, which means that they are primarily active at night. They scurry around kitchens and bathrooms looking for food and water and tend to leave behind unmistakable mounds of feces. Even if you’re not able to spot a mouse, it’s possible that you may have an issue present if you notice any gnaw marks or the aforementioned fecal matter. To protect your home from mice throughout the year, contact Miche Pest Control today for the most reliable mouse control around.

Three Problems Mice Cause In Vienna, VA

When mice gain access to your Vienna property, they can cause far more damage than most people give them credit for. Three of the most major issues they’re responsible for are:

  1. Health hazards. Through their fecal matter, urine, and saliva, mice are capable of spreading the pathogens that lead to tularemia, hantavirus, and salmonellosis. This happens when certain bacteria is deposited into your food, which isn’t a difficult feat for these scavengers. When the particles from these byproducts make their way into the air, some people may experience asthma attacks and allergies as a result.
  2. Other pests. Mice are notorious for being carriers of parasitic pests like fleas, ticks, and mites, so the presence of mice often leads to a secondary infestation. And in the scenario where mice have gnawed at your foundation to gain access to your home, they may leave you susceptible to future pest problems as well.
  3. Property damage. Though tiny, mice can inflict significant damage to your property. They chew and gnaw incessantly on things like furniture, walls, molding, personal belongings, and even electrical wiring.

When it comes to keeping your property safe, look no further than Miche Pest Control for mouse control. Our methods involve tactics like sealing up entry points, placing tamper-resistant bait stations, and setting traps. With these systems, we’re able to address mouse problems present and future. Four Things Everyone Can Do To Avoid Mice In Vienna, VA

Mice infestations are a headache for Vienna homeowners but they also pose risks to your health and property. In order to keep these pesky pests out of the home, try these four effective tips:

  1. Practice proper food storage. This means always keeping pantry items like cereal, pasta, and rice as well as leftovers in airtight containers.
  2. Keep things clean. Mice aren’t picky so your trash is fair game. Take out the trash often, clean up after crumbs and spills, avoid letting dishes pile up, and clear any stacks of old newspapers from your home.
  3. Secure your foundation. Because of their small stature, mice can squeeze through the smallest openings imaginable. Tend to your foundation with materials like sheet metal, wire mesh, and silicone-based caulk to keep mice out.
  4. Remedy issues with moisture. Whether it’s a damp basement or a leaky faucet, anything that could provide a water source or comfortable conditions needs to be addressed.

The safest, most secure way to protect yourself from the dangers that mice can bring is to enlist the help of Miche Pest Control. Our mouse control offerings are comprehensive and proven to both address current issues and prevent new ones. And because we look to provide complete peace of mind, if treated mice return between regularly scheduled visits, we’ll re-service your property at no additional cost to you. When Is It Time To Call The Vienna, VA, Mice Control Experts?

With their delicate features, mice resemble something more like a child’s pet rather than a dangerous pest. The most common time of year for mice to enter Vienna homes is when conditions outside turn cold. They come in search of warmth as well as a steady food and water supply, which many local residents readily provide without even knowing it. However, mice can truly be an issue for Vienna homeowners at any time of the year. When conditions outside become too hot and unbearable in the summer, mice may seek relief in your basement that’s cool, dark, and damp. Or when they’re simply hungry and you’ve left the garage door open all day accidentally, mice will take advantage of that scenario. And while many households may think that DIY mouse control may do the trick, think again. Your home has cracks, crevices, and openings that you may have no clue about. And because of the rapid rate at which mice reproduce, you could have an infestation in a matter of a month or two. But with professional mouse control from Miche Pest Control, we protect homes throughout the year by both getting rid of current problems and preventing new ones.
