Rat Control In Chantilly, VA

Don't Let Chantilly Rats Raid Your Yard

When rats find their way to your Chantilly yard, it’s only a short matter of time before they invade your home. They are adept climbers and are very easily capable of utilizing overhanging tree limbs and shrubbery as a means of entering your property. They can also sneak through small openings and use the sewer systems to gain entrance to your home. Once rats have made their way inside, the trouble truly begins. Rats are common hosts for parasites like fleas, ticks, and mites, so having a rat problem very often leads to a secondary infestation that can be detrimental to your health and the health of your pets. While scurrying around your home, rats will leave behind fecal matter, urine, and saliva that are all linked to the spread of tularemia, hantavirus, and salmonella, as well as allergies and asthma attacks. Another major issue that rats are connected to is property damage because they chew constantly in order to keep their front teeth from overgrowing. All of these issues, however, can be avoided by keeping rats out of your yard with professional rat control from Miche Pest Control. Four Things Every Chantilly Resident Should Know About Rats

Rats can be a major issue for Chantilly homeowners if you let them. Here are four things that everyone should know about rats:

  1. Rats spread parasites. Because of the unsanitary conditions that rats live in before they make their way to your property, they are very likely to bring parasites with them like mites, fleas, and ticks. These types of infestations can be especially harmful if you have cats and dogs.
  2. They’re very skilled climbers. Though it’s a less well-known fact, rats are actually very good at scaling trees and hedges, which they’ll do in order to enter your home. They may also climb roofs as well.
  3. Health risks are never too far behind. When rats enter your home, they are known to leave behind piles of urine, saliva, and fecal matter. Not only is this unsightly but it can also be the source of dangers like salmonella and hantavirus as well as asthma and allergies.
  4. Rats are capable of significant property damage. Rats often enter homes looking for warmth and sustenance, so as a result, they are likely to burrow and nest inside your walls. Additionally, rats chew and gnaw at near-constant rates in order to keep their front teeth from overgrowing, this can lead to damaged furniture and even house fires.

Chantilly VA

Chantilly is a census-designated place (CDP) in western Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. Chantilly is named after an early-19th-century mansion and farm, which in turn took the name of an 18th-century plantation that was located in Westmoreland County, Virginia. The name "Chantilly" originated in France with the Château de Chantilly, about 28 miles north of Paris.

Located in the Northern Virginia portion of the Washington metropolitan area, Chantilly sits approximately 25 miles west of Washington DC, via Interstate 66 and U.S. Route 50. It is located between Centreville to the south, Herndon and Reston to the north and northeast, respectively, and Fairfax 7 miles to the southeast. US Route 50 and Virginia State Route 28 intersect in Chantilly, and these highways provide access to the Dulles/Reston/Tysons Corner technology corridor and other major employment centers in Northern Virginia and Washington DC.

Chantilly was home to a number of colonial plantations in the 1700s, including the Sully Plantation (now the Sully Historic Site) built by Richard Bland Lee I. Other plantations included George Richard Lee Turberville's "Leeton Grove" (originally a 5,000+ acre plantation, the main house of which still stands at 4619 Walney Rd), the John Hutchison Farm, and the Chantilly Plantation, after which Chantilly is named. Cornelia Lee Turberville Stuart constructed the Chantilly Plantation and named it after the Westmoreland County plantation owned by her grandfather, Richard Henry Lee, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. During the Civil War, federal troops destroyed by fire the Chantilly Plantation manor house. One building remains, a stone house across Route 50 from the Greenbriar Shopping Center. After the Civil War, Cornelia Stuart, who had become deeply in debt, sold her 1,064-acre Chantilly estate. The advertisement for the sale referenced several "tenements", one of which was the Stone House.

The village grew during the 19th century, particularly following the construction of the Little River Turnpike to Winchester. The evolution of the Chantilly area into an outer suburb of Washington, D.C., gained momentum after 1980, as developers built residential subdivisions and commercial areas, filling in the farmland south of Dulles Airport.

Chantilly is located in western Fairfax County, bordered to the west by the South Riding CDP in Loudoun County, to the north by Washington Dulles International Airport, to the northeast by the Franklin Farm CDP, to the east by the Greenbriar CDP, and to the south by Centreville. To the southwest is Schneider Crossroads, not part of any census-designated area. The present center of Chantilly is located around the intersection of U.S. Route 50 (Lee Jackson Memorial Highway) and Virginia Route 28 (Sully Road).
