Reasons You Do Not Want Mice In Your McLean, VA Home

While mice may seem like a problem unto themselves, they are actually a serious issue because of the other problems they lead to. Some of the reasons why you do not want a mouse issue in your home are:

The presence of other pests. While mice are tiny, they pack a big punch in the other pests that they can bring to your property. Some of the pests that mice are known to carry include fleas, ticks, and mites. This means that having a mouse problem can cause a serious health problem for homeowners, especially those who have dogs.

Serious illness. Through their saliva, urine, and fecal matter, mice are capable of spreading very dangerous pathogens like tularemia, leptospirosis, hantavirus, and salmonella.

Health risks. The same byproducts that lead to the very dangerous diseases mice carry can also stir up allergies and asthma attacks in certain individuals when their particles float in the air.

Property damage. Because mice have a near-constant need to chew, they will take to anything they can find. Sometimes that means furniture and personal belongings, while other times it means electrical wiring. This can lead to severe damage and dangers like house fires.

Don’t let mice become a problem in your home. For the most reliable and safest form of mouse control, contact Miche Pest Control today.

Four Things You Can Do To Prevent Mice Infestations In McLean, VA

With mouse problems coming in droves for McLean homeowners, it’s best to protect yourself as best you can. Here are four simple yet effective ways to keep mice and the problems they cause out of your home:

Ensure a secure foundation. Mice are capable of squeezing through almost any opening that they can find. Tend to even the smallest of cracks in your foundation with materials like sheet metal, steel wool, wire mesh, and silicone-based caulk.

Practice safe food storage. One of the things that attracts mice most is food, whether it’s off of your plate or in your pet’s food dishes. Always store food and pantry items in secure containers, clear out animal food bowls at the end of the day, and avoid leaving anything out that’s uncovered.

Aim for cleanliness. To keep mice away, it’s equally important to address crumbs and food residue by tidying and disinfecting your home on a regular basis. When spills happen, address them, remove any stacks of old magazines and newspapers, and take out your trash on a routine basis.

Address any issues with moisture. Another key thing that mice look for is a water source. So always fix leaky pipes, bathtubs, showerheads, faucets, gutters, and even toilets when you notice them.

While these mouse control efforts are all noble, it’s important to enlist the help of Miche Pest Control for the highest quality protection from mice and other rodents. With our EPA-approved products and tamper-resistant bait stations, we look to not only get rid of current problems but also to prevent future ones from developing. Is Mouse Control In McLean, VA Worth It?

Professional mouse control is one of the most important things that you can do to protect everyone in your McLean home from the dangers and damage that these pests are known to cause. The trouble with mice begins before they even enter your home, as they’re capable of crawling through even the smallest of openings in your foundation. And if they can’t make it through on their own, mice will chew and scratch at these cracks until they can gain access. What that does is not only allow for mice to become a problem, but it also leaves your home exposed to other pest issues in the future. On the inside of your home, mice bring with them other pests like fleas and ticks, cause illnesses like salmonellosis and hantavirus, irritate allergies and asthma, and cause property damage that can lead to insecure walls and house fires.

While there are certain DIY methods that may provide some minor relief from a mouse issue, the most secure way to both get rid of a current mouse infestation and prevent future ones from developing is by enlisting the help of Miche Pest Control for our mouse control services. With years of experience, EPA-approved products, and tamper-resistant bait stations, your home will be completely safe from mice. For more information on these services, contact us today.

McLean VA

McLean is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Fairfax County in Northern Virginia. McLean is home to many diplomats, military, members of Congress, and high-ranking government officials partially due to its proximity to Washington DC, the Pentagon, and the Central Intelligence Agency. It is the location of Hickory Hill, the former home of Ethel Kennedy, the widow of Robert F. Kennedy. It is also the location of Salona, the former home of Light-Horse Harry Lee, the Revolutionary War hero. It is located between the Potomac River and the town of Vienna. McLean is often distinguished by its luxury homes and its nearby high-profit shopping destinations: Tysons Corner Center and Tysons Galleria. The two McLean zip codes – 22101 and 22102 – are among the most expensive ZIP Codes in Virginia and the United States.

The community received its name from John Roll McLean, the former publisher and owner of The Washington Post. Along with Stephen Benton Elkins and French aristocrat Jean-Pierre Guenard, in 1902 he bought the charter for the Great Falls and Old Dominion Railroad. Completed in 1906, it connected the area with Washington DC. McLean named a railroad station after himself, where the rail line (traveling on the present route of Old Dominion Drive) crossed the old Chain Bridge Road. The community itself was founded in 1910, when the communities of Lewinsville and Langley merged.

McLean is located on the Capital Beltway (Interstate 495) in Northern Virginia, central McLean is 8 miles northwest of downtown Washington DC and 9 miles northeast of Fairfax, the county seat. The community lies in the Piedmont upland on the west bank of the Potomac River. The river forms the community's northern and eastern borders, and a number of its smaller tributaries flow north and northeast through the CDP. From west to east, these include Bull Neck Run, Scott Run, Dead Run, Turkey Run, and Pimmit Run.

As an inner suburb of Washington DC, McLean is a part of both the Washington Metropolitan Area and the larger Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area. The CDP includes the unincorporated communities of Langley, Lewinsville, and West McLean, and it borders several other Washington suburbs including: Potomac and Cabin John, Maryland to the north; Brookmont, Maryland to the northeast; Arlington to the southeast; Falls Church to the south; Idylwood, Pimmit Hills, and Tysons Corner to the southwest; Wolf Trap to the west; and Great Falls to the northwest.
