Mosquito Control: Four Tips For Herndon Homeowners
We’re all familiar with the uncomfortable bites that mosquitoes leave us with, but did you know that these parasitic pests can also transmit vector-borne illnesses into our bodies? The best way to protect yourself from mosquito-borne illness is to take your mosquito prevention efforts as seriously as possible. Here are four mosquito control tips for Herndon homeowners:
1. Get rid of any sources of standing water around the property.
2. Install window and door screens to prevent entry, and fix any damaged or ripped screens.
3. Maintain well-trimmed landscaping and vegetation.
4. Use insect repellent when spending time outdoors, and wear permethrin or DEET-treated clothing.
While these preventative tips can certainly be helpful, the most reliable way to guard your property against mosquitoes is to call in the pest professionals. Why Controlling Mosquitoes In Herndon Is So Difficult
When it comes to controlling mosquitoes around your Herndon property, it’s not an easy task. The situation may start with a few of these vector pests here and there, but before you know it, they’ll have spread throughout your property and cause large-scale infestation. Here are some of the reasons why it’s hard to control mosquitoes here in Herndon:
- These pests breed rapidly and in large populations. Females can lay over 100 eggs at a time, and they can be deposited in various sources of standing water throughout the property.
- Not all mosquito breeding sites are easy to access, especially when you don’t have a professional pest control company's proper equipment, tools, and expertise.
- Barrier treatments don’t target the source of the infestation. They give you temporary protection, meaning you’ll have wasted a lot of time and money.
- Many at-home treatment methods may kill off adult mosquitoes, but they fail to eliminate the thousands of eggs that have been laid around your property.
The most effective way to deal with mosquito populations around your property is to call your local pest professionals. The team at Miche Pest Control is here to address all your mosquito control and prevention needs. We will detect and eliminate all mosquito activity and prevent infestation moving forward.
Can Some Scents Help Control Mosquitoes In My Herndon Backyard?
If you want to be proactive in your efforts to control mosquitoes around your property, you should know about the repelling power of certain natural scents. Various scents repel mosquitoes and essential oils that you can use to deter mosquitoes from inhabiting your property.
The most common mosquito-repelling scents include peppermint, basil, garlic, lemongrass, lavender, rosemary, and lemon eucalyptus. There are various ways to use these scents, and the main goal is to drive out any mosquitoes. You can rub the oils onto your skin or put them in a diffuser. Regardless of how you use them, using these scents can be beneficial in keeping mosquitoes away.
While essential oils can be used as a tool in your mosquito prevention efforts, only the pest professionals can deal with mosquito infestation in a big picture way that guarantees the lasting results you deserve. Miche Pest Control is here to provide local property owners with complete mosquito control and prevention solutions that last all year long. Get in touch with us to learn more.
Why Professional Mosquito Control Is So Essential For Herndon Properties
We all know that mosquitoes bite us and leave us with itchy red welts, but the truth is that mosquitoes are much more harmful than many of us think. They are vector pests that suck the blood of multiple hosts and can transmit diseases from one host to another.
That puts you and your loved ones (and even your pets) in danger. Mosquitoes can transmit a long list of vector-borne illnesses, including malaria, West Nile virus, encephalitis, Zika virus, yellow fever, chikungunya, dengue, tularemia, and more. If an infected mosquito bites you, your health is at risk, and it’s a serious problem that all local property owners should consider.
To protect yourself from these mosquito-borne illnesses, it’s crucial to have a professional mosquito control system put in place. Only ongoing services from the pest professionals can bring you mosquito-free conditions that last. We address all active mosquitoes, breeding sites, and harborage areas and eliminate all conducive conditions throughout the property.
Miche Pest Control is here to bring you professional mosquito control services that eliminate the problem from your property and keep it away for good. Protect yourself and those you love from these harmful vector pests, and call us today; we’re here to help.
Herndon is a town in Fairfax County, Virginia, in the Washington DC metropolitan area. It is the largest of three incorporated towns in Fairfax County. The actual dimensions of the town of Herndon are fairly small. However, the United States Post Office treats nearby unincorporated communities in northwestern Fairfax County as part of a Greater Herndon region, including Dranesville, Floris, Franklin Farm, McNair, and Oak Hill. Just over two acres of land in the town are technically in Loudoun County.
Herndon is part of the Dulles Technology Corridor, which Fortune magazine named the "Netplex" because of the presence of the headquarters of such companies as AOL, XO Communications, K12 (company), Verizon Business (formerly MCI, formerly WorldCom, originally UUNET), and Network Solutions, which began as the INTERNIC – the registry where every domain name was once administered. Some of those companies are within Herndon. Others have Herndon mailing addresses, but are located in unincorporated Fairfax or Loudoun counties; for example, south of the Dulles Toll Road.
Herndon contains the Herndon Depot Museum, the site of "Mosby's Raid on Herndon Station", which was a Civil War skirmish that took place on St. Patrick's Day, 1863. Also within the town is The Herndon Centennial Golf Course, the Herndon ArtSpace (a community art gallery), community center with basketball and racquetball courts and multiple baseball fields, and an aquatic center. Adjacent to the community center is Bready Park, with indoor tennis courts. Additionally, every residence within the town borders is within a mile or less of a public park. Herndon is home to a professional live theatre, NextStop Theatre, which produces a variety of plays, musicals, concerts, and educational theatre programming each season.
Nearby attractions include the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center of the National Air and Space Museum (which houses the Enola Gay B-29 Superfortress, a Concorde supersonic passenger airplane, an SR-71A Blackbird plane and the Space Shuttle Discovery), Frying Pan Farm Park, Sully Plantation, Reston Town Center, Mount Vernon, Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, Colvin Run Mill, Aldie Mill, Oatlands Plantation, Manassas National Battlefield Park and the Washington and Old Dominion Trail (which runs through the town).
The primary highway serving Herndon is Virginia State Route 228 and its truck route. SR 228 heads directly through the center of town via Elden Street, Monroe Street, Park Avenue and Dranesville Road. SR 228 Truck diverges from Elden Street southwest of downtown on Herndon Parkway, following that road northwestward, northward and northeastward around central Herndon, finally reaching Dranesville Road north of downtown. At the south end of town, SR 228 meets Virginia State Route 267, a high speed, high-capacity toll road which provides access to Washington, D.C. (via Interstate 66) and Washington Dulles International Airport.
