Here's What Makes Gaithersburg Cockroaches So Dangerous

Whether or not you have experienced a cockroach infestation, you probably know little about this pest. The one thing most people know about cockroaches is how gross they are. This pest spends its time in sewers, dumpsters, and other warm and dark areas conducive to bacteria growth. In these places, cockroaches pick up bacteria and pathogens, spreading them in homes when they infest.

Cockroaches are insects that vary depending on the species, but usually, they have antennae longer than their oval-shaped body. Some species can fly, while others cannot. Unfortunately, cockroaches are an essential part of the ecosystem because they are decomposers, which means they help to break down organic matter and return nutrients to the earth. This process would take much longer without decomposers like cockroaches, slowing down new growth.

But don't stress, Miche Pest Control can help protect your home against these pests!

All The Ways Cockroaches In Gaithersburg Are Harmful To Your Health

It's no secret that a cockroach infestation is dangerous, but just how dangerous is it? Here are all the ways this pest is harmful to your health:

  • Spreads diseases such as dysentery, cholera, typhoid fever, salmonellosis, gastroenteritis, listeriosis, and E. coli.
  • Triggers allergies and asthma from their waste shed skin and saliva they leave around the house.
  • Contaminates food, surfaces, and personal hygiene products with germs and waste.
  • Creates a stressful living environment that can lead to difficulty sleeping and eating for everyone in the house.

As you can see above, cockroaches don't have a place in any home. These problems can worsen by the quick reproduction of the cockroaches and their challenges when trying to eradicate them.

Cockroaches have some of the most robust immune systems, allowing them to survive in the dirtiest conditions. They have also shown increasing immunity to conventional pesticides, which requires treating them using multiple methods and products.

For these reasons, it's best to leave cockroach control to professionals experienced with this pest. Gaithersburg residents can work with Miche Pest Control for their cockroach control needs.

Keeping Gaithersburg Homes Cockroach-Free

There are several types of cockroaches in our area, including American cockroaches, brown-banded cockroaches, German cockroaches, Pennsylvania wood cockroaches, and oriental cockroaches. Cockroach control depends on the type of invading species, so it's best to work with an expert for proper identification.

At Miche Pest Control, cockroach control services are included under our residential pest control services, which provides removal and prevention for these pests. However, German cockroaches require special attention, so we offer specific services for this species that include:

  • Identification: First, we will identify which cockroach species are invading,, or we may discover a different pest is a culprit.
  • Flushing: We inject a powder into areas they are likely hiding which ultimately forces them to flee- hence, we are flushing them out.
  • Spraying: Applying a liquid residual, we spray areas where this pest is active with a product that is undetectable to them.
  • Baiting: We place targeted gel baits to maximize treatments by effectively placing baits where adults and nymphs will get to them.
  • Insect growth regulator: Finally, we use a product that breaks the lifecycle and prevents nymphs from forming into adults.
  • After the initial service, we will return monthly to ensure your cockroach problem is gone.

With our services, you can have a cockroach-free home, but we also recommend implementing several prevention steps around your property for the best results. These prevention steps consist of:

  • Eliminating food sources
  • Reducing moisture
  • Sealing entry points
  • Removing harborage areas

Gaithersburg MD

Gaithersburg, officially the City of Gaithersburg, is a city in Montgomery County, Maryland. Gaithersburg is the fourth-largest incorporated city in Maryland, behind Baltimore, Frederick, and Rockville. Gaithersburg is located to the northwest of Washington DC, and is considered a suburb and a primary city within the Washington–ArlingtonAlexandria, DC–VA–MD–WV Metropolitan Statistical Area. Gaithersburg was incorporated as a town in 1878 and as a city in 1968. Gaithersburg is noted for its ethnic and economic diversity; WalletHub in 2016 ranked it first among the 313 largest U.S. cities for ethnic diversity and second for social class diversity.

Gaithersburg is divided into east and west sections, separated by Interstate 270. The eastern section of the city is older and is the original portion of the town before more recent growth. Landmarks and buildings from that time can still be seen in many places but especially in the historic central business district of Gaithersburg called "Olde Towne". The east side also includes Lakeforest Mall, City Hall, and the Montgomery County Fair grounds, and Bohrer Park (a well-known joint community recreation center and outdoor water park for kids and families). The west side of the city has many wealthier neighborhoods that were designed with smart growth techniques and embrace New Urbanism. These include the award-winning Kentlands community, the Lakelands community, and the Washingtonian Center (better known as Rio), a popular shopping/business district. Two New Urbanism communities are under construction, including Watkins Mill Town Center (Casey East and West), and the massive "Science City".

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is headquartered in Gaithersburg directly west of I-270. Other major employers in the city include IBM, Lockheed Martin Information Systems and Global Services business area headquarters, AstraZeneca, and the French multinational corporation, Sodexo. Gaithersburg is also the location of the garrison of the United States Army Reserve Legal Command.

The most prominent highways serving Gaithersburg are Interstate 270 and Interstate 370. I-270 is the main highway leading northwest out of metropolitan Washington DC, beginning at Interstate 495 (the Capital Beltway) and proceeding northwestward to Interstate 70 in Frederick. I-370 is a short spur, starting just west of I-270 in Gaithersburg and heading east to its junction with Maryland Route 200. Via MD 200, I-370 connects Gaithersburg with Interstate 95 near Laurel. Maryland Route 355 was the precursor to I-270 and follows a parallel route. It now serves as the main commercial roadway through Gaithersburg and neighboring communities. Other state highways serving Gaithersburg include Maryland Route 117, Maryland Route 119 and Maryland Route 124. Maryland Route 28 passes just outside the Gaithersburg corporate limits.
