Do The Ticks In Falls Church Carry Lyme Disease?
Ticks are parasitic pests known for transmitting vector-borne illnesses into their hosts. They are a year-round presence in Virginia and property owners need to beware of the dangers they pose. Here in Falls Church, our local ticks carry and spread a variety of different diseases, one of the most common ones being Lyme disease.
Over 300,000 cases of the disease are reported in the U.S every year. Lyme disease is spread by the deer tick, and it can cause a lot of long-term complications for your health, ranging from heart and joint problems to more severe neurological issues.
The first sign indicating a Lyme disease bite is the formation of a circular/oval-shaped rash around the bite site. The rash has a bullseye appearance, and while it doesn’t hurt or itch, it causes side effects like fevers, headaches, fatigue, muscle aches, and swollen glands. Whether it’s Lyme disease or one of the many other diseases spread by ticks, the fact is that transmitting these conditions is a real threat.
To protect yourself, you must address your tick control needs. Call Miche Pest Control today to discuss your termite damage concerns and how we can help you protect your property from infestation all year long.
What To Do If You're Bitten By A Tick In Falls Church
Identifying a tick bite isn’t always easy, as they’re usually painless, meaning they can easily go unnoticed. As ticks bury themselves deeper into your skin, they feed on your blood and become more nestled into the bite site.
Ticks commonly bite on the back of the neck, the scalp, the groin, or the legs. If you do get bitten by a tick here in Falls Church, it’s important to act fast. Here is a quick checklist of things to do immediately after discovering a tick bite:
- Use fine tweezers to pick the tick out from inside your skin.
- Cleanly pluck it out without moving around to prevent parts of the tick from breaking off.
- Make sure to remove any remaining mouthparts with the tweezers.
- Use rubbing alcohol or mild soap and water to clean the site of the bite.
- Don’t crush the tick; wrap it up in a tissue and dispose of it down the toilet.
To avoid getting bitten by a tick, it’s important to address your tick control needs and take the proper precaution. The safest way to protect yourself from tick infestation is to rely on the expertise of the pest professionals. Call Miche Pest Control for quality tick control and prevention solutions you can count on all year long.

Falls Church VA
Falls Church is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Falls Church is included in the Washington metropolitan area. Taking its name from The Falls Church, an 18th-century Church of England (later Episcopal Church) parish, Falls Church gained township status within Fairfax County in 1875. In 1948, it was incorporated as the City of Falls Church, an independent city with county-level governance status although it is not a county. The city's corporate boundaries do not include all of the area historically known as Falls Church; these areas include portions of Seven Corners and other portions of the current Falls Church postal districts of Fairfax County, as well as the area of Arlington County known as East Falls Church, which was part of the town of Falls Church from 1875 to 1936.
At 2.11 square miles, Falls Church is the smallest independent city by area in Virginia. Since independent cities in Virginia are considered county-equivalents, it is also the smallest county-equivalent in the United States by area. The center of the city is the crossroads of Virginia State Route 7 (Broad St./Leesburg Pike) and U.S. Route 29 (Washington St./Lee Highway). The primary roads serving Falls Church directly are U.S. Route 29 and Virginia State Route 7. The portion of US 29 through Falls Church is also coincident with Virginia State Route 237. Most of Virginia State Route 338 is also within Falls Church. Interstate 66 passes just north of the city, while Interstate 495 passes a few miles to the west.
