How Did These Termites Get Into My Falls Church Home?

Falls Church is a great place to own a home, but when termites enter the picture, being a homeowner can be a real nightmare. If you discover termite activity in your home, it’s normal to wonder where these wood-eater invaders came from in the first place.

Termites gain entry into our homes through remote cracks and crevices around the foundation. They use water and soil to build mud tunnels, leading up to the perimeter of your house. These mud tubes are intricately constructed, with keen attention to detail. These tunnels climb up the sides of your home, giving termites access to the rest of the house. That’s when they effectively spread their colonies throughout your home and cause extensive property damage.

There are a variety of other ways in which termites get into your structure. Sometimes they’re even brought in on rotting, or moisture-damaged wood. The most reliable way to deal with a termite problem is to secure ongoing services from the pest professionals. Contact the experts at Miche Pest Control for all of your termite control and prevention needs.

Six Easy-To-Spot Signs Of Termite Activity Around Your Falls Church Property

The large-scale damage that termites can cause is extremely devastating, costly, not to mention very dangerous to your safety. It’s important to be able to detect termite activity so you can address the problem as soon as possible. Here are six easy-to-spot signs of termite activity around your Falls Church property:

  1. Cast off wings of swarmer termites found near doors and windows.
  2. Clicking sounds and munching noises coming from inside the walls.
  3. Gallery tunnels built by termites with saliva and dirt/mud for protection.
  4. Swarmer termites flying around in groups looking for places to nest.
  5. White ants that are actually worker termites with cream-colored bodies.
  6. Wood that is warped, moisture-damaged, or rotting (easily pierced).

If you suspect termite activity around your property, the best plan of action to take is to call in the pros. The team at Miche Pest Control is highly skilled in dealing with all kinds of termite situations, big and small. Are DIY Termite Control Methods Effective In Falls Church?

When it comes to termite infestation, some sources say you can deal with it on your own, while others warn against it. While there are a variety of DIY termite treatments available on the market and endless tips on how to handle the situation on your own, none of them are guaranteed to be effective.

The truth is, DIY methods only address visible termites, but the problem hardly ends there. There are always hard-to-reach spots and hidden areas that are difficult to access. Termite colonies will still remain in places you wouldn’t even think of. Only a team of pest professionals can get to every problem area on the property.

DIY termite control ends up wasting a lot of time and money that could have been spent elsewhere. Something else to think about is the fact that the unsupervised use of pesticides poses many health risks to everyone on the premises.

The bottom line is that DIY solutions are not the way to go. No method of termite control is ever as effective as professional pest control services. Miche Pest Control is here to address all of your termite control and prevention needs. Call today to get started.

Falls Church VA

Falls Church is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Falls Church is included in the Washington metropolitan area. Taking its name from The Falls Church, an 18th-century Church of England (later Episcopal Church) parish, Falls Church gained township status within Fairfax County in 1875. In 1948, it was incorporated as the City of Falls Church, an independent city with county-level governance status although it is not a county. The city's corporate boundaries do not include all of the area historically known as Falls Church; these areas include portions of Seven Corners and other portions of the current Falls Church postal districts of Fairfax County, as well as the area of Arlington County known as East Falls Church, which was part of the town of Falls Church from 1875 to 1936.

At 2.11 square miles, Falls Church is the smallest independent city by area in Virginia. Since independent cities in Virginia are considered county-equivalents, it is also the smallest county-equivalent in the United States by area. The center of the city is the crossroads of Virginia State Route 7 (Broad St./Leesburg Pike) and U.S. Route 29 (Washington St./Lee Highway). The primary roads serving Falls Church directly are U.S. Route 29 and Virginia State Route 7. The portion of US 29 through Falls Church is also coincident with Virginia State Route 237. Most of Virginia State Route 338 is also within Falls Church. Interstate 66 passes just north of the city, while Interstate 495 passes a few miles to the west.
