Why Chantilly Homes Could Still Be At Risk For Termites
Each year, termites and their incessant wood-eating cost American homeowners approximately five billion dollars in property damage. In Chantilly, the homes are no different. A termite’s main priority is finding wood to feast on, and your home provides them many opportunities for an ample meal. The species of termite determines the type of wood that attracts them, so while dampwood termites will seek out water-damaged walls, subterranean termites are more likely to attack your home through your foundation. This process most commonly starts when temperatures rise; however, termite issues can begin at any time. Something as simple as having an excess of yard debris and leaf piles can be enough to attract termites to your property, and given their extremely small size, they can enter your home without trying.

Does My Business In Chantilly Need Pro Termite Control?
Professional termite control is perhaps one of the most important ways that you can protect your Chantilly business from termites. While termite problems are more commonly developed during the warmer months, they can truly arise at any point throughout the year. It doesn’t take much to attract termites to your property either. Something as simple as having wood resting against your foundation is enough to send out a flare; however, other factors like water damage, placing mulch within 18 inches of your foundation, or simply the presence of wood can let termites know that your property is open for business. And each year, on top of the damage termites leave American homeowners with, the total of their destruction, including crops and buildings, is closer to 30 billion dollars. The key to termite control is preventing their presence before they can even become a problem. If termites do ever become an issue, then professional assistance is the smartest choice. When you partner with Miche Pest Control for your termite control needs, we will work with you to take proactive measures through routine inspections and will spot treat termite activity if an infestation has already taken place. Either way, your business will be completely protected from termites. For more information on how you can keep termites from becoming an issue for your property, contact us today.
Identifying Termites In Chantilly
Because of the location of their colonies, Chantilly residents may have termites and never even see them. Termite activity is often relegated to foundations, walls, and the far reaches of any other wooden structures on your property. That said, here are the most common termite species you’re likely to encounter and how to identify them:
- Subterranean. Generally found in and around foundations, the subterranean termite is a milky white color and has pronounced antennae.
- Dampwood. Typically attracted to wood that has been made vulnerable due to water damage or fungus, the dampwood termite soldiers have a yellowish-brown gradation color while the swarmers have jagged wings and are a darker reddish-brown.
- Drywood. The drywood swarmer has even, metallic-colored wings, while the soldier is wingless, brown and cream-colored, and has large pincers.
No matter the type of termite you’re dealing with, Miche Pest Control has the solution for you. We provide property owners with all-encompassing termite control that is geared at removing any activity present as well as preventing termites from returning to your property. We even use the Trelona® Advance® Termite Baiting System, which speeds up the removal process while also proactively keeping new termites away.
