How You May Be Inviting Mice Into Your Chantilly Home
The mice in Chantilly are typically looking for three main things: warmth, food, and water. These factors are often readily available to mice while being completely unbeknownst to you. Though they’re small, mice are a very determined pest and will do almost anything to gain access to the things that they need. Something as simple as the weather turning colder is enough to invite mice into your home; however, an exposed hole in your foundation or an open garage door is enough to make your property very attractive. Mice can also detect the presence of food, so if the garbage has piled up or there’s an abundance of crumbs and spills, they are very likely to work extra hard to enter your property. Other factors like having exterior leaks and humid basements are also enough to entice mice into your home, and it’s also what keeps them around. In order to keep mice out of your home throughout the year, contact Miche Pest Control today for mouse control that lasts.
Mouse Prevention Tips For Business Owners In Chantilly
Keeping mice out of your Chantilly business is of the utmost importance. They can be very dangerous to the health of your employees and customers as well as cause significant property damage. In order to prevent mice from becoming an issue, try these tips:
- Tend to your foundation. Mice are after warmth, food, and water, and they’ll do almost anything to access these things. Fill any cracks, holes, or gaps in your foundation with materials like sheet metal, wire mesh, silicone-based caulk, and steel wool.
- Keep food securely stored. It’s very easy to feed mice without even thinking about it, which is why food should always be kept in airtight containers both in the fridge and pantry. If you run an office, ensure that employees store snacks and meals safely, and if it’s a restaurant you operate, avoid letting food spoil.
- Fix moisture issues. Whether it’s a leaky pipe, faucet, or a humid basement or storage area, it’s important to always fix these issues as they arise. For damp areas and crawl spaces, ensure that they are well ventilated and use dehumidifiers where needed.
- Aim for cleanliness. Mice love a good stack of clutter to burrow under or use as part of their nest design, so try to maintain a tidy interior by disposing of extra newspapers and magazines as well as packing materials and boxes. It’s also key to clean up food residue and take the garbage out on a regular basis.
- Contact the pros. The most reliable way to keep mice out of your home is with assistance from your local pest professional.
