Why Are There Fleas In My Chantilly Home?

Fleas are a very common pest in Chantilly homes, and like a parasite, they can make their way inside your home in a multitude of ways. The most common way that fleas get brought inside the home is latched onto your pets, especially if they have been spending time outside or at the dog park playing with unknown dogs. Even if you don’t have pets, you can still develop a flea problem. Rodents and wildlife are also notorious for being hosts to parasites like fleas, ticks, and mites, which means that having a population of these pests will often lead to a secondary infestation. Fleas can also become an issue if individuals have spent time in areas of tall grass and dense vegetation, and these pests can also gain access to your home latched onto used upholstered items like couches and chairs. Once they’re inside your home, fleas burrow inside places like carpets and pet beds, which makes them very difficult to get rid of.

For the most reliable flea control, look no further than Miche Pest Control. We use EPA-approved adulticides and larvicides in order to remove current problems as well as break the lifecycle, which is a key component for flea control. What Chantilly Property Owners Need To Know About Flea Infestations

Flea infestations can happen in Chantilly homes at any time of the year. These pests are parasites, which means that they travel via hitchhiking and feed off of the blood of animals and humans. One of the most important things to know about flea infestations is that they can happen whether or not you have pets. While cats and dogs are perhaps the most common cause of these problems, they are not solely responsible. If your pets do spend time outside, treating them year-round with flea and tick prevention may be a good idea. Flea infestations are most damaging to their health and because fleas can feed off of animals for two consecutive hours, consuming up to 15 times their body weight in blood, health issues like anemia can develop.

Additionally, homeowners should know that secondhand items are also a key source of fleas along with bed bugs. Before bringing anything upholstered into your home, you should inspect it for pest activity first. Lastly, flea infestations can happen simply by being left behind by previous homeowners, because you have a rodent problem, or because they latched onto you after a hike. Fleas can lay up to 50 eggs per day, which they hide in places like pet beds and underneath couches. This makes egg sacs harder to find and even harder to get rid of. The most reliable form of flea control is with pro assistance from Miche Pest Control. We utilize both larvicide and adulticide in order to get rid of current problems and prevent new ones. Flea Control: Why DIY Methods Don't Work In Chantilly

When it comes to getting rid of fleas in Chantilly, DIY methods simply won’t cut it. To start, female fleas are capable of laying up to 50 eggs per day, which totals approximately 2,000 in her lifetime. These eggs are typically laid in hidden places or in the depths of your carpeting. Similarly, flea problems can be hard to solve because there are four stages to their lifecycle, some of which can take place without you even noticing. If you miss all but a few fleas in your efforts to get rid of them, you may end up with an even more serious problem in the future.

At Miche Pest Control, we don’t leave anything to chance; that’s why our flea control is designed to do two things: get rid of adult fleas and break the lifecycle. We apply both adulticides and larvicides that are EPA-approved in order to do so. If any fleas arise between our visits, we’ll re-treat your home until the issue is resolved.
