Spider Control In Burke, VA

Are There Poisonous Spiders In Burke?

While most of the spiders that you may see in Burke are not harmful to your health, there are a few species that are dangerous and should be avoided. Both the black widow and brown recluse want little to do with humans and tend to be anti-social. They favor dark, quiet, and cool places both inside your home or business and outside, around your property. That means that they're likely to loiter in closets, basements, underneath porches, and in sheds. While neither spider goes seeking human attention, if they feel threatened or their web is disturbed, either spider is likely to bite, which has a venomous impact. In order to protect yourself and everyone on your property from these spiders, seek professional spider control from Miche Pest Control. Spider Prevention Tips For Burke Homeowners

Spiders are typically an indication that your Burke home has at least one other active pest infestation. In order to keep both spiders and the pests they feast on out of your home, try these tips:

  • Tend to your yard. Simple things like leaf piles, storing firewood too close to your home, and having overhanging landscaping are enough to make your property attractive to spiders and other pests. Aim to keep a tidy yard and always maintain at least 20 feet of distance between your home and any logs.
  • Secure your home. Fill any cracks in your foundation with silicone-based caulk, patch up worn window screens, install door sweeps, and apply weather stripping to the openings around doors and windows.
  • Address issues with moisture. One of the most important things you can do to keep spiders and other pests out of your home is to fix any leaky pipes, downspouts, gutters, faucets, bathtubs, and other fixtures. It’s also imperative to use dehumidifiers on an as-needed basis in places like the attic and basement.
  • Keep things clean. Cleanliness is one of the biggest factors in attracting pests that spiders eat, so remove all clutter, store food in locking containers, disinfect the surfaces and floors in your home routinely, don't allow dirty dishes to pile up, and take out the trash often.
  • Contact the pros. The most effective and safest way to keep spiders out of your home is with professional assistance from your local pest expert.

Four Reasons To Let The Pros In Burke Handle Your Spider Problems

Spider problems abound in Burke homes, but sometimes these issues are best left to the pros. Here are four key reasons why professional help is the way to go:

  1. Some spiders may be poisonous. With species like the black widow and brown recluse loitering around homes, it’s best to steer clear of them.
  2. Killing individual spiders doesn’t solve the problem. The presence of spiders is often indicative of bigger pest issues in your home, so tackling them one by one is not effective.
  3. Professional help can work in preventive ways as well. Enlisting the assistance of your local pest pro will not only get rid of your spider problem but will also work to keep issues in the future from developing.
  4. They’re called professionals for a reason. Working with a professional team means having highly trained and licensed people on your side. Pros have access to the best products, unbeatable knowledge, and in many cases, a pest-free guarantee.

At Miche Pest Control, we provide quarterly spider control that is designed to get rid of spiders and the pests they prey on. If any spiders return between these regularly scheduled visits, we’ll re-treat your property until the problem resolves, restoring your peace of mind. Burke VA

Burke is an unincorporated section of Fairfax County, Virginia, traditionally defined as the area served by the Burke post office (Zip Code 22015). Burke includes two census-designated places: the Burke CDP, and the Burke Centre CDP.

Burke is named after Silas Burke, a 19th-century farmer, merchant, and local politician who built a house on a hill overlooking the valley of Pohick Creek in approximately 1824. The house still stands. When the Orange and Alexandria Railroad was constructed in the late 1840s, the railroad station at the base of that hill was named "Burke's Station" after Burke, who owned the land in the area and donated a right-of-way to the railroad company. The community that grew up around the railroad station acquired a post office branch in 1852. The railroad tracks located on the same historical line are owned by the Norfolk Southern Railway and form part of the Manassas line of the Virginia Railway Express commuter rail system, which has two stations (Rolling Road and Burke Centre) in the Burke area. The original Burke Station building can still be seen in the community, turned 90 degrees from its historical footprint.

Burke is located south of the center of Fairfax County. The Burke CDP is bordered by the CDPs of Burke Centre to the west, Kings Park West to the northwest, Long Branch and Wakefield to the north, Kings Park to the northeast, West Springfield to the east, Newington Forest to the south, and South Run to the southwest. Burke Lake Park, which borders the Burke CDP to the southwest and is not part of any CDP, is a large recreational park operated by the Fairfax County Park Authority, featuring a golf course and woodland surrounding Burke Lake.

Burke Centre is a 1,700-acre planned community that was formerly part of the Burke CDP but is now a separate census-designated area. It is located west of Burke and is divided into five subcommunities: The Commons, The Landings, The Oaks, The Ponds and The Woods. Other notable communities in the Burke area include Rolling Valley West, Burke Village I & II, Lakepointe, Longwood Knolls, Burke Lake Meadows, Edgewater, Lake Braddock, Signal Hill, Crownleigh, and Cherry Run along with Burke Station Square.
