Does Mosquito Repellent Really Work In Burke?

Mosquitoes can be a nasty problem for Burke residents, with the pests' constant need for human blood. These bites result in itchy bumps that can be very irritating to deal with. Unfortunately, genetics are responsible for nearly 85% of the reason why mosquitoes are attracted to you. There are, however, certain repellents that may provide relief for this attraction. The ingredient DEET is EPA-approved and is noted for being both safe and effective, and though slightly less known, picaridin is said to possibly provide even more relief than products that contain DEET. For the individual who is looking for a more natural approach to repelling mosquitoes, some people have reported benefits from essential oils containing lemon eucalyptus, citronella, clove, or lavender. Any plant in the linalool family may also deter mosquitoes and are anti-microbial.

When you’re looking to keep your property free from mosquitoes from the root cause, turn to Miche Pest Control. Our mosquito control programs are designed to remove adult populations and stop larvae from becoming an issue. We treat your property on a regular basis during mosquito season, but if any mosquitoes appear between those visits, we’ll re-service your property at no additional charge. Tips To Avoid Cockroach Infestations In Burke

Working to avoid a cockroach infestation in your Burke home is one of the most important things you can do to keep everyone in your home safe, as these problems can get out of control quickly. In order to keep cockroaches away, try these tips:

  1. Address moisture problems inside and outside the home. Cockroaches are drawn to damp areas, so check your gutters, downspouts, and roofs for leaks routinely and inside the home, tend to faucets, pipes, and other fixtures and remedy them as needed.
  2. Seal up your foundation. These pests can sneak through very small openings so fill gaps around doors and windows with weather stripping, apply caulk to holes in your foundation, and repair worn window screens.
  3. Check boxes. Another common way for cockroaches to gain access to your home is by going for a ride in packages. Open any shipped goods outside and inspect them thoroughly.
  4. Properly store food. Your food is one of the most enticing things to cockroaches so always keep it in airtight containers and dispose of anything that’s gone bad.
  5. Keep things clean and tidy. Things like clutter, dirty dishes, crumbs, spills, and overflowing trash are all enough to attract cockroaches and keep them around, so be sure to tidy up on a routine basis and maintain a hygienic living environment.
  6. Contact the pros. Once cockroach problems have developed in your home, they can be very difficult to control. Preventive measures with professional help from your local pest expert is always the way to go.

DIY Vs. Pro Mosquito Control In Burke

If you’ve ever been to an outdoor gathering in Burke between the months of March and October, then you know what a buzzkill mosquitoes can be. The female mosquito leaves behind itchy bumps as a result of her feeding off of your blood, which is a very unpleasant experience. Because human blood and a place to take up shelter are the key factors that attract mosquitoes to your property in the first place, DIY methods of keeping them away can prove difficult. Some of those techniques include: sweating less, not wearing perfume, changing the detergent you use, consuming less alcohol, limiting the amount of time you spend outside during certain parts of the day, and wearing different colored clothes. While these changes are very restrictive and limiting, genetics is responsible for approximately 85% of the variability in whether or not mosquitoes will find you attractive.

When it comes to making your property undesirable, homeowners must tend to their landscaping constantly, trimming back trees, turning over birdbaths routinely, and keeping their yards spotless. None of these options truly addresses what’s at the core of mosquito problems, but when you work with Miche Pest Control, our mosquito control breaks the mosquito's life cycle, providing an itch-less experience. During mosquito season, we provide nine treatments that include larvicide and yard fogging for your complete protection. To learn more about how you might benefit from these services, contact us today.
